Storyboarding for Undercover Martyn

As a group we had to come up with and idea for our music video Undercover Martyn, after having a few ideas brought up we decided on one finally. We decided that they music video was going to be mainly and hugely performance based, as many other indie/alternative music videos are similar to this concept. We started to start storyboarding by changing the bands position and location quite a lot as this would go well with the pace to the music and we could adapt the editing to this. We also added random shots in there but unfortunately we couldn't obvisouly storyboard this as we were going to have to wait until we were on set, to see what footage which could film.

It is really important that we storyboard as it means that we have a guideline for when it comes to filming for our music video. Not only that but also by planning the music video before it means that we have already made life easier when coming to filming as we now know when and what to do in each scene of the music video. On a whole we came to an agreement that a storyboard helps you:
  • Define the parameters of a story within available resources and time
  • Organize and focus a story
  • Figure out what medium to use for each part of the story
